Garden Retreat. Giffnock

The existing garden was a large overgrown area, the brief here was to create a calming space to relax and unwind, include wildlife friendly areas and a small pond. The group of old apple trees have now become one of the main focal points in the garden. The curved pergolas were planted with climbers.

Family Garden. Muirend

This large town garden was completely redesigned to suit a young family. The curved line of the paths flow around the lawn, linking the two sandstone patio areas for entertaining, both with garden lighting. Mature beech plants will in time create screening and a colouful hedge around the boundary.

Small City Garden. Newton Mearns

Within this little city garden we included a lawn with brick mowing edge, pebble area for a rotary washing line, garden lighting, sandstone patio circle, raised sandstone brick plant beds, water feature and new timber boundary fence. Our clients brief was for an easily maintained garden but with plenty of interest.

Sloping Garden. Carmunnock

This sloping garden on a windy site is used by a young family. The brief was for a more accessible and colourful garden, with space for their three young chlidren to safely run about. The severe slope at the bottom of the garden was reduced and replaced with a large plant border, trees, shrubs and perennial plants.

Planting for Wildlife. Crookston

You can attract wildlife into the smallest of gardens, this garden has a grassy border with perennial flowering plants to attract bees, butterflies and insects. Small trees and shrubs to supply berries and nesting areas for birds, a small pond (cloudy but will clear) a raised vegetable bed, new timber sleeper edging, pebble pathways and sandstone paved patio area. The garden was completed December 2009.

Family Garden. Strathaven

The new lawn has a drainage system installed and a brick mowing edge for easy maintenance. The lawn and paved surfaces are all level, making it an ideal play area for the two young children. A mixture of evergreen shrubs and perennials have been planted in the borders. Natural sandstone has been used for the patios, paved paths and walling.

Traditional Walled Garden. Carmunnock

A large country garden with extensive plant borders and lawn. A garden room with water feature and patio, was built close to the house for entertaining. The larger sandstone patio is sheltered by a timber pergola. Traditional Drystone walling method was used to create walls and raised plant beds to blend in with the surrounding landscape.

Low Maintenance Family Garden. Carmunnock

This garden is used by the family for most of the year. The existing lawn was extended and re-shaped with a brick mowing edge, to define the lawn shape. The surrounding borders were planted with a mixture of evergreen and deciduous shrubs, along with some non-invasive bamboos and red Acer.

Country Cottage Garden. Balfron

Set in the countryside surrounded by farm land, this garden is an ongoing project, the owners are passionate gardeners and very involved its progress. The design has linked the various areas of the 2 acre garden through curved paths, boardwalk and bridge over the pond. Planting is naturalistic in style and intended to encourage wildlife.
